“LIGHTING UP THE UK, ONE NEON CREATION AT A TIME”
Bolton: Since their conception in 2005, Neon Creations have been illuminating the lives of individuals and businesses alike. Specialising in the design and manufacturing of bespoke neon signs from their Bolton HQ, the brand have come a long way in their nine years. With an impressive list of clientele, they’re to credit for getting many fashion, retail, broadcasting and entertainment names in lights - not to mention adding wattage to logos, handwriting, images and signatures.
Husband and wife duo Tony and Catherine Spink launched the brand after seeking a more creative outlet for their respective talents in neon creation and marketing, beginning their venture with a commission from Azuli Records with a ‘Late Night Tales’ sign. Prior to this history making first commission, Tony had been making neon for 15 years, now clocking up a quarter century’s worth of experience. In almost a decade Neon Creations has expanded their client portfolio, now spanning the whole country, with the majority of their business coming from London – proving their products are a hot commodity nationally as well as regionally.
From June 2010 to June 2014 the business saw a 68% increase in turnover, paying testament to the popularity of this modern lighting solution. Co-founder, Catherine commented this growth and how Neon Creations is going from strength to strength with a seemingly endless list of commissions in the pipeline;
‘We don’t specialise in one particular sector and so we’re exposed to a varied range of businesses and individuals alike, there is no standard day in the studio for us which makes our work that much more interesting. We’re fortunate as neon seems be having more than a moment in the spotlightand we’re constantly getting new leads, most recently 2 further commissions from Almost Famous!* We’ll have done their Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool locations now.’
In addition to Almost Famous, their latest completed commissions can be found brightening Paul Smith Mayfair and Notting Hill, Timberland Regent Street and the House of Vans skate-park in London.
Having enlightened both London and the North West to the beauty of neon the Bolton based company’swork was recently shown on national television following a commission by Sky Arts for their new music series, Sky Arts Sessions* - appearing on their advertisement and in pride of place behind the artists on their live sessions.
Despite having worked with the likes of Sony, the BBC, Universal Records, River Island, American Apparel and countless other big names, the founders take pride in every commission whether on TV, in stores and bars or within individuals’ homes. The next five years sees exciting goals being set for the business, with Catherine and Tony stating:
‘We want to achieve brand recognition, to have people say ‘I want a Neon Creation’ would be an incredible feeling. We’re already getting traction in London but want the whole country to share our love of neon, after all we love creating it.’
Average turn-around time is 3 weeks from order confirmation with studio appointments always welcome.
